The Helmholtz-Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik is one of four institutes in the  physics and astronomy department of the faculty for mathematics and sciences of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University Bonn.

The research focus lays on experimental and theoretical hadron and nuclear physics as well as laser spectroscopy, solid state and applied physics.
